It’s our third annual World Animal Day Celebration and we are pawsitively thrilled that Mars South Africa and Royal Canin have sponsored our event this year!
Join us on the 1st of October 2023, on the stunning Sea Point Promenade, to celebrate the lives of our 4 legged friends and the human animal rescue warriors who fight tirelessly to protect them!
Meet over 20 of your favourite Cape Animal Welfare Forum registered Animal Welfare Organisations and Adopt a new furry family member! Shop til you drop at our fabulous stalls catering to all your fur babies needs – from the best dog foods, treats, toys and accessories to grooming and pet insurance! Bring along a picnic blanket and treat yourself to a hot cuppa coffee or a scrumptious snack at one of our pawsome stalls!
To add to the World Animal Day Celebrations, we will be hosting various activations during the day starting with Downward Dog for Dogs Yoga, Zumba for Zoomies with the Claremont Zumba ladies, the City of Cape Town’s Metro Police K-9 Unit will demonstrate their search and rescue skills and pawrents will have the opportunity to show off their furbabes while they strut their stuff infront of our VIP Judges – including City of Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis – in our Lionel’s Choice Rescue Dog Show!

Paws-A-While / World Animal Day
“The City of Cape Town is proud to support Paws-A-While, and we’re grateful for the tireless work they do in homing rescue dogs and cats, sterilising animals and doing a fantastic job in educating communities on animal ownership.
As an owner of rescue dogs myself, I can attest to the importance of this service. I will attempt to help them judge their Rescue Dog Show on this World Animal Day on 1 October, but as far as I’m concerned every rescue dog is already a winner deserving of the first prize of a loving home.
If you’re thinking of getting a pet, I strongly urge you to consider adoption from an organisation like Paws-A-While rather than shopping from a breeder. There are so many wonderful dogs and cats of all shapes, sizes and ages waiting for homes, and the companionship and love you will get from a rescued pet is unlike any other.”
Geordin Hill-Lewis
Cape Town Mayor
