Paws-a-While was created as a once off event on the 30th of Mat 2021, to highlight the desperate need for pet sterilisation and the City of Cape Town’s laws around it. We set up on the Gardens Rugby Field, five organisations and five stalls, standing together for sterilisation to be compulsory to curb the crisis that is the overpopulation of companion animals problem is – but how many amazing people are giving up their time and sanity to protect their best welfare.
Three years later, sterilisation is now mandatory for dogs and cats over the age of six months in the City of Cape Town and Paws-a-While still going strong! We have seen tremendous growth and has become something that people talk about, attend monthly and enjoy!
We have created a platform in which we’ve seen over 600 successful adoptions and have hosted over 20 animal welfare organisations and popular pet care brands on the bustling Sea Point Promenade once a month, united.
Paws-a-While is growing from strength to strength, regularly welcoming new Cape Animal Welfare Forum members, pet food and pet care brands to our “PAW Family”.
Our events are frequently featured in various news outlets, the City of Cape Town’s social media platforms and website and in pet magazines such as Pet Prints and We Love Pets SA.
I have so much gratitude to the incredible and continuous support of our Patron Alderman JP Smith, the City of Cape Town, the phenomenal CAWF members, our generous sponsors, loyal stall holders and every person who attends our events, follows us on social media and of course, for choosing to ADOPT, not shop.
